European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Lower in Tuesday Trading

11:16 AM EDT, 04/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending moderately lower Tuesday morning, declining 0.49% to 1,372.87 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm Biophytis ( BPTS ) and biopharmaceutical firm Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which advanced 9.6% and 4.9%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Genfit ( GNFT ) and Cellectis ( CLLS ) , which rose 3.8% and 2.6%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which lost 4.3% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by software firm SAP (SAP) and pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which were down 2.1% and 2%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) and Amarin ( AMRN ) , which rose 4.5% and 1.9%, respectively. They were followed by communications company WPP ( WPP ) and telecommunications operator Vodafone Group ( VOD ) , which were up 1.4% and 1.2%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which fell 6.8% and 5.1%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and construction materials supplier CRH (CRH), which dropped 5% and 2.8%, respectively.
