Indian consumer goods company Marico is looking at 40 percent revenue from rural business over the next few years. said Saugata Gupta, managing director and CEO of the company .
“Our direct rural sales is around 33 percent. This number has been going up on a year-on-year basis,” said Gupta.
According to him, the contribution from rural business has increased over past few years and it will continue given the prospects of normal monsoons and government thrust.
Talking about margins, he said, “Our objective is to maximise volume growth and ensure that we do not lose market share."
