Swedish home-furnishing major IKEA is all set to open its first store in India on July 19 in Hyderabad and the company is localising not just its product range but also the range of services offered to woo the Indian buyer.
For the first time across the 50 countries it is currently present in, IKEA will offer unique features like assembly assistance and door delivery of its furniture to the Hyderabad customer, for a fee.
"The Indian buyer is used to quality customer service and not all of them will want to adopt IKEA's DIY (Do It Yourself) motto for furniture assembly. Hence we have decided to offer these features exclusively for this market," says John Achillea, MD, IKEA Telangana.
IKEA has also trained 150 workers who will be made available on the Urbanclap app to offer assembly service at the buyer's home.
