Blue Star is looking to increase prices of its products from October this year, said B Thiagarajan, joint managing director of the company, as he discussed the impact of the Kerala floods.

“The market is doing well in the past two-three months. Still the inventory will last till October. The price increase should have taken place in the month of July. It didn’t take place because of the inventory. We will be increasing the prices at least from October 1," said Thiagarajan.

“For the refrigerator, the price increase will be to the tune of about 5 percent and in room air-conditioners, it will be to the tune of about 4-5 percent,” he added.

He said that 60 percent of the raw material is imported for room air-conditioners.
