Aiming for Rs 5,000 crore revenues by 2022, planning acquisitions, says Jyothy Labs

The troika at Jyothy Laboratories — the founder, the daughter and the joint managing director, spoke together for the first time ever about their business targets to CNBC-TV18 exclusively.

Ullas Kamath, joint managing director, said Jyothy Laboratories is on track to achieve Rs 5,000 crore by 2022 and by 2021, the company would be at Rs 4,000 crore in revenues.

Once 'Crisp' and 'Shine' brands make Rs 100 crore in south Indian market, Jyothy Laboratories is planning to take it nationally in three years' time, Kamath said.

Talking on acquisition targets, Kamath said, "Jyothy Laboratories would spend maximum of Rs 800-1,000 crore and would be ready for acquisitions in FY19 and it will happen in FY20."

According to Kamath, Jyothy Laboratories reduced dividend payouts is to shore up the balance sheet for acquisitions.

"Would be preferably look at segments where the company is already present in but would also not mind looking at adjacent spaces like hair care and body care," said Kamath.

MR Jyothy, director, said hard work and sincerity are qualities that she learned from her father, MP Ramachandran, chief managing director, of the company to which she still cannot match up to.

While, Ramachandran said his daughter is very independent and has a modern way of thinking, management and is confident of her leading the company forward.

Ramachandran said there was a time when Jyothy Laboratories had to spent about 50 percent of their revenues on the 'Ujala' campaign and it did give them the freedom and intuition to try other innovative things.

Talking about the innovative products, Jyothy said Ujala 'Crisp' and 'Shine' is the product they would like to take it national.
