In what is believed to be Vladimir Putin’s best election performance so far, the Russian president fetched his fourth term which will be extending for another six years, until 2024.
Putin won the Russian presidential elections on Sunday with 76% vote, making him the first Kremlin leader who served the country for two decades.
After the early results were declared, Putin in a rally in Moscow said that voters had "recognized the achievements of the last few years".
Putin's competitor, Russia’s communist party candidate, Pavel Grudinin, stood second receiving about 12% votes.
Alexei Navalny, the main opposition leader was barred from the race because of his conviction in a fraud case in December 2017.
