India today celebrates its 70Th year of independence. Marking the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation from Red Fort and emphasized on the need for good governance and transparency in the country.

Modi, in his speech, spoke about all the reforms including the Goods & Services Tax Bill and Model Shop Act that his government has brought about since it came to power.

The prime minister also gave his backing to the new inflation target of 4 percent and said that his government has brought down consumer price growth from double digits under the previous government.

Terrorism, poverty, hunger as well as global cooperation were also a part of his speech.
