India's southern states are up in arms over what they see as the BJP- led center's imposition of Hindi across the country.
So, it's not a stretch to see Kannada Pride or Kannada Swabhimana becoming one of the major campaign points as Karnataka heads to the polls.
The raising voices calling for the primacy of Kannada in Karnataka are not new. They have been around since the Gokak agitation in 1980s but, what is new is that what was once an agitation by fringe groups like the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike or the Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha has suddenly become a mainstream movement.
