Sector Update: Tech Stocks Decline Pre-Bell Monday

09:14 AM EDT, 10/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Technology stocks were declining pre-bell Monday as the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK ) was down 0.4% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) was 0.2% lower recently.

EPAM Systems ( EPAM ) shares fell by 0.4% after the company said it struck a deal to acquire First Derivative, a managed services and consulting firm specializing in the capital markets.

United Microelectronics ( UMC ) shares were down more than 1% after the company said its sales for September were 18.94 billion New Taiwan dollars ($588.7 million), compared with 19.05 billion New Taiwan dollars a year earlier.

Apple ( AAPL ) received a favorable verdict in a patent infringement case by Identity Security related to user verification and data security technology in its iPhone products, Bloomberg News reported. Apple ( AAPL ) shares were 0.8% lower pre-bell.
