Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were trading lower. Actively-traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was down 1.4%.
US equity indexes slipped as the earnings onslaught continued and government bond yields fell with crude oil after midday on Wednesday.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) fell 0.7% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) slid 0.8%.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was down 1.4%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were lower.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) declined 1% while iShares PHLX Semiconductor (SOXX) fell 3%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) was fractionally down. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) was down 0.3% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) rose 0.3%.
Commodities
Crude was down 3.2%; United States Oil Fund (USO) fell 3.1%. Natural gas was down 3.7% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) declined 2.8%.
Gold was down 0.7% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell 0.9%. Silver was flat and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) rose less than 1%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) gained 0.1%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were higher.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) fell 0.7%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) contracted 0.2% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was down 0.5%.
Industrial
Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) fell 1% while other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ), and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were lower.
