Now you can file your tax returns without Aadhaar card

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has allowed online filing of income tax return without quoting Aadhaar number, reported Scroll.in .

The development comes two weeks after the Delhi High Court asked the tax department to provide an “opt out” option on its website so that people without Aadhaar card can also do their filing, the report said.

Earlier it was imperative to have an Aadhaar card to conduct the filing process. However, on Wednesday Jayshree Satpute, one of the petitioners in the case, filed her income tax returns on the website without providing Aadhaar details, according to the report.
