With the deadline for filing the income tax returns getting closer, many are rushing to finish the business.

However, many get in to trouble due to lack of proper idea regarding the process.

Here is a detail about documents that are necessary for the filing process.

The first group of documents that are handy for the filing are the general documents such as PAN card, mobile number linked Aadhaar card and original copy of bank account statements.

The next in the list is Form 16, i.e. salary certificate issued by the employers.

The Form 16 gives details about the salary received by the individual along with details such as tax deducted, exemptions given etc.

Similarly, Form 16A that offers details of TDS certificates on incomes other than a salary income is particularly useful for freelancers and self employed.

Form 26AS is a tax credit statement or an annual statement released by the Income Tax Department.

The form gives of all taxes paid by you or on your behalf making it useful while filing the returns.

In additions, documents such as interest certificates and investment documents too are helpful as they give details about various deposits, investments etc.
