Market Chatter: YPF Sociedad Anonima Reportedly Mulling Divestment of Lithium Business
Sep 1, 2024 7:51 AM

03:44 PM EDT, 08/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- YPF Sociedad Anonima (YPF) is considering a divestment of its lithium business YPF Litio, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

YPF Sociedad's businesses that don't involve drilling for oil and gas and refining crude are under review and YPF Agro, which provides fuel, fertilizers, seeds and other products to the agricultural sector, could be made into a standalone entity, the person reportedly said.

The divestment will help the Argentine state-run company focus its investments on shale production including the drilling of more wells and key infrastructure projects, according to the report.

YPF Sociedad did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the company were up 5.4% in recent trading.
