06:58 AM EDT, 09/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The main US stock measures were tracking in the green before Thursday's opening bell, as traders digest consumer inflation data and await the latest report on producer prices.

Standard & Poor's 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.2% each in the premarket, while the Nasdaq edged up 0.1%. The majority of Asian exchanges were pointing higher, while European bourses were heading north midday on the continent.

August's PPI report, a measure for wholesale prices, is scheduled to be released at 8:30 am ET. The data comes a day after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported consumer inflation rose as expected last month on a sequential basis, while the annual metric logged the smallest increase since February 2021.

Also on Thursday's economic calendar, the weekly jobless claims bulletin posts at 8:30 am, while the weekly EIA domestic natural-gas supplies report is out at 10:30 am.

Shares of Nvidia ( NVDA ) were up 0.8% pre-bell adding to an 8.2% jump at Wednesday's close. Tommy Bahama and Lilly Pulitzer owner Oxford Industries ( OXM ) tumbled 10% after the company cut its fiscal 2024 outlook. Alaska Air ( ALK ) rose 4.7% after the air carrier lifted its third-quarter per-share adjusted earnings guidance.

Kroger ( KR ) , Signet Jewelers ( SIG ) and Caleres ( CAL ) are set to report their latest financial results before the bell, among others. Adobe (ADBE) and RH (RH) release earnings in the afterhours.

Before the open, bitcoin inclined 0.7% to $57,966, West Texas Intermediate crude oil advanced 1.6% to $68.41 per barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries climbed 2.3 basis points to 3.68% and gold inched 0.1% higher to $2,546 an ounce.
