Stocks Wobble Pre-Bell Ahead of Latest Earnings Round; Asia, Europe Rise

07:09 AM EDT, 10/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were mixed to slightly lower before the open Tuesday as investors await the latest round of corporate earnings.

Standard & Poor's 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down 0.1% each in premarket activity, while the Nasdaq was slightly in the green. The majority of Asian exchanges were heading north, while European bourses were trending higher midday on the continent.

Novartis ( NVS ) , McDonald's (MCD), Pfizer ( PFE ) , PayPal ( PYPL ) , D.R. Horton ( DHI ) , Royal Caribbean Cruises ( RCL ) , Check Point Software Technologies ( CHKP ) and SoFi Technologies ( SOFI ) report their latest financial results before the bell, among others.

Google ( GOOG ) parent Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL), Visa (V), Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) , Stryker (SYK) and Chipotle Mexican Grill ( CMG ) post earnings after the markets close.

Shares of Ford Motor ( F ) dropped 6.1% pre-bell after the automaker guided its full-year core earnings to the low end of its previously issued outlook range. Cadence Design Systems ( CDNS ) advanced 6.8% as the company reported better-than-expected third-quarter results. Trump Media & Technology Group's ( DJT ) stock spiked 11%.

On the economic calendar, the international trade in goods, retail inventories and wholesale inventories reports for September are out at 8:30 am ET. The Case-Shiller Home Price Index and the Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price Index, both for August, are due at 9 am.

The Conference Board's consumer confidence report for October is scheduled for a 10 am release, along with the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for September.

Before the opening bell, bitcoin increased 2.2% to $71,174, West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.1% to $68.12 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries inclined 1.8 basis points to nearly 4.3% and gold moved up 0.2% to $2,761 an ounce.
