Uber Eats has partnered with Cafe Coffee Day to introduce 'Virtual restaurants' in India. A range of 'delivery-only' restaurant brands will be available exclusively on the Uber Eats app.
The first restaurant brand will be launched in the 1st week of November across 10 cafe coffee day (CCD) cafes in Bengaluru.
It will be a multi-branded business with the first based on the 'homemade meal' model.
CCD plans to expand the business to metro cities in the next 1 year and is discussing a revenue sharing model with Uber Eats.
Virtual restaurants are digital-only eateries that allow existing restaurants to explore new cuisine options using their kitchens.
Uber Eats has added 37 cities to its umbrella since its launch. While CCD has 1,742 cafes across 246 cities in India.
