Nestle India finds urban play more exciting than rural
May 17, 2018 2:06 AM

It was a strong fourth quarter for Nestle India. The company is betting big on youth oriented product this fiscal, said Suresh Narayanan, Nestle India’s chairman.

He said India is a strong consumption economy and the earnings declared by most of the consumption companies prove that fact. “Across the board, consumption is taking place either because of urbanisation or because of improvements in income or because of participation of greater number of women in workforce etc.,” he said, adding that this is likely to continue for some more time.

When asked if rural market would be their focus area, he said “We do have a rural play but that is far less sensitive as compared to the urban play,” adding that “the urban play is more exciting, and not just the traditional metros but also the tier II, III towns and that is where the action is.”
