India is far ahead of most economies when it comes to mobile commerce, said Anupam Pahuja, MD of PayPal India. "Most people do shop on mobile commerce," said Pahuja.

PayPal commissioned a study, which was conducted by Ipsos, wherein it analysed trends in mobile commerce across the globe. The study essentially suggests that India is leading the way in mobile commerce usage, with 88 percent of consumer respondents using mobile devices for purchases or payments online and 81 percent of business respondents saying they are ‘mobile optimised’.

The study was conducted across 11 markets.

Speaking about safety of transactions, Pahuja said, “There is a lot of conversation about security versus convenience. I can only offer security or I can offer convenience.”

“In my mind, it has to be security and convenience, not security or convenience; they have to go hand in hand and that helps to build trust,” he further added.
