Flipkart, GoQii resolve issue over discounting
Jun 14, 2019 7:53 AM

After weeks of a legal tussle between Ratan Tata backed wearable device maker GOQii and ecommerce platform Flipkart over the former's products being deeply discounted on the online marketplace, the two parties jointly said that the issue has been resolved and that the products will be available on the platform again.

GOQii had taken Flipkart to court after claiming that deep discounting of its products on the platform had damaged the brand.

Last month, the Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court asked Flipkart to stop selling GOQii products following the complaint.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18 on June 3, GOQII founder Vishal Gondal had said that customers had cancelled orders and were complaining about getting fake products, damaged goods, second-hand products through Flipkart, which he said affected GOQii's brand image in the minds of consumers. He said that Flipkart was discounting GOQii products by 60-70 percent without authorisation.

On Thursday, Gondal said in a statement that it would start selling GOQii products again on Flipkart. "Flipkart engaged with us in a transparent way and their team worked on a resolution benefitting the brand and the customers. We look forward to a continued fruitful association and help serve millions of Flipkart customers in a better way," Gondal said.

Adarsh Menon from Flipkart said, "Flipkart is a customer-focused marketplace that works closely with brands and seller partners to ensure that all policies are aligned to industry standards and are in compliance with all applicable Indian laws. We have a zero-tolerance policy on incidents that impact customer trust. In the last few days, we have ensured constant engagement with GOQii to resolve any differences and we are glad that the brand will be back on Flipkart."
