Coca-Cola's jaljeera, aam panna to hit Indian shelves this summer, says report
Mar 29, 2019 1:45 AM

Coca-Cola's Indian arm is entering the country's “ethnic drinks” segment to boost its sales following a global decline in consumption of sugary sodas, Bloomberg reported.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based giant's carbonated version of jaljeera is now being launched around the country, and its aam panna drink will be on shelves in time for summer, when it’s traditionally consumed, said the report.

Expansion into dairy products like spiced buttermilk and lassi is expected in 2020, T. Krishnakumar, CEO of Coke’s business in India and Southwest Asia, told Bloomberg in an interview.

As consumers turn to sugar-free beverages, demand for 'grandma-brewed' traditional beverages has grown 32 percent over the last three years in India, three times the pace of its trademark non-alcoholic beverage drink Coke, the report said.
