On September 28, 2018, the Supreme Court delivered a historic verdict rejecting a law which banned the entry of menstruating women in the Sabarimala Temple.
The move was cheered by women across the country and the message was clear that there be no discrimination when it comes to the right to pray.
However, the move led to massive protests by Hindu groups and Lord Ayyappa devotees who vowed not to let women enter. Since the last two days that the temple was opened to women, they are being manhandled by the protesters.
On Friday, the Travancore Devaswom Board which manages the Sabarimala Temple has succumbed to pressure and has decided to file a review petition against the order.
CNBC-TV18 caught up with experts to discuss whether the CPI-M led Kerala state government and the centre take enough steps to make sure the Supreme Court verdict is implemented.
