Politicians and citizens react to the ongoing political drama in Karnataka
May 17, 2018 12:09 AM

With the Supreme Court refusing to stay BJP leaders Yeddyurappa’s swearing in as Karnataka CM, the stage is all set for BJP taking power in Karnataka. However, many, particularly in the opposition ranks felt undone by the development and took to twitter to vent their anger, particularly against the governor.

Once more an occupant of a Raj Bhavan allows himself to be used as a rubber stamp. BJP announces (& then deletes) the details of #Yeddyurappa swearing in slated for tomorrow before it can be officially communicated.

— Omar Abdullah (@OmarAbdullah) May 16, 2018Former CM of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah was one among the many who hit out against Governor Vajubhai Vala. “Once more an occupant of a Raj Bhavan allows himself to be used as a rubber stamp. BJP announces (& then deletes) the details of #Yeddyurappa swearing in slated for tomorrow before it can be officially communicated,” said the tweet posted by the leader on his twitter account.

We shall wait and watch. In the present situation, one really wishes that ultimately justice prevails. What is right for Peter should be right for Paul too. What is right for Meghalaya, Manipur & Goa should be right for Karnataka too !! God save Karnataka & Democracy! Jai Hind !!

— Shatrughan Sinha (@ShatruganSinha) May 17, 2018

BJP's actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who recently has shown signs of disgruntlement against the Modi-Shah leadership hit against the double standards shown by authorities in Karnataka as compared to Meghalaya, Manipur and Goa.

Veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram took a jibe at BJP. “Governor invites Mr Yeddyurappa to manufacture a majority in 15 days. Governor gives Mr Yeddyurappa 15 days to convert the number 104 into 111,” he posted on his account.

B.S. Yeddyurappa press meet abruptly ended after a first question. Why Cong wasn't called to form the Govt after emerged as a single largest party in Manipur, Goa& Megalaya?#KarnatakaVerdict

However it was not just the prominent leaders who made the best out of the situation. While some took shot against the BJP leader and the double standards that aided the saffron party.

The BJP offers Rs 100 cr each to JD(S) MLAs to get them to switch sides. @amitshah offered Rs 100 cr to Judge Loya to secure an aquital.

Move over Bollywood, the #BJP is now the new king of the Rs 100 club! #BJPChor100Crore@INCindia @divyaspandana https://t.co/LvgnxYiVVk— Shama Mohamed (@drshamamohd) May 16, 2018

Others used their accounts to take a dig on the alleged role of money in the Karnataka power game.
