India must raise the issue of its trade deficit with China, said Ashok Kantha, Former Indian Ambassador to China.

He said, “I believe there is need to take urgent measures to ensure that we have more balanced economic engagement in India and China – this will call for a multi-pronged approach.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be heading to China tomorrow to participate in the Annual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, that is scheduled to be held in the port city of Qingdao.

India, which was inducted as a permanent member of SCO last year is going to pitch for collaborative global action against terror networks among other things.

Prime Minister Modi will also be meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit.
