Bhupesh Baghel of the Congress is leading Motilal Sahu of the BJP in the Patan seat in Chhattisgarh by 11,736 votes.
Bhupesh Baghel received 53,446 votes so far, while Motilal Sahu secured 36,493 votes, according to Election Commission data. Laxmikanta Sahu of Congress was trailing at the third spot with 7,618 votes.
In 2013, Baghel won the seat by a margin of 9,343 votes.
There are a total of 1,95,205 voters in the seat. In the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections, Patan recorded a voter turnout of 82.93 percent.
The first phase of voting covered mostly assembly seats in the Bastar division and parts of Rajnandgaon.
Chhattisgarh is one of the five states where elections were held between November 12 and December 7.
These polls are seen as a bellwether of the 2019 general elections.
