Opposition working together as anti-BJP, anti-Modi forces, says Chandrababu Naidu
Feb 11, 2019 9:53 AM

The opposition is working together as an anti-Modi and anti-BJP force and they are open to everybody who has national interest, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

"Narendra Mod is protecting Jagan Mohan Reddy but if Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to join us he is welcome. We are welcoming everybody who has national interest" Naidu told CNBC-TV18.

On Monday morning, Naidu said in his speech, "If you won't fulfil our demands, we know how to get them fulfilled. This is about self respect of people of Andhra Pradesh."

"Whenever there is an attack on our self-respect, we won't tolerate it. I am warning this government and particularly the PM to stop attacking an individual," he added.

Naidu's daylong fast demanding special status for his state on Monday became a rallying point for the opposition, which got together for the second time in less than a month to present a united front against the government.

Bringing state issues on a central stage, a series of opposition leaders made a beeline for Andhra Bhavan, where Naidu staged his protest.

Those who met Naidu included former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, National Conference chairperson Farooq Abdullah, NCP's Majeed Memon, Trinamool Congress' Derek O' Brien, DMK's Tiruchi Siva, Loktantrik Janata Dal's Sharad Yadav, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
