Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Usha Rani Mondal of TMC.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Usha Rani Mondal garnered 103210 votes, securing over 55.76 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 42598 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 23.01 percent.
The constituency polled 185103 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 88.55 percent.
The Minakhan constituency has a literacy level of 84.95 percent.
