In the 2016 Assembly elections, Madhyamgram was won by Rathin Ghosh of AIFB.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Rathin Ghosh of TMC.In the 2016 assembly polls, Rathin Ghosh garnered 110271 votes, securing over 53.09 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 35804 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 17.24 percent.

The constituency polled 207990 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 86.75 percent.

The Madhyamgram constituency has a literacy level of 84.95 percent.

A total of 5 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
