Congress can only daydream of winning polls, says Amit Shah ## Congress can only daydream of winning polls, says Amit Shah

Accusing the Congress of telling "lies" to people, BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday said the opposition party can only daydream of winning the upcoming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

Addressing a rally here ahead of the November 28 Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working to enhance the country's prestige in the world.

Shah said he heard Congress chief Rahul Gandhi saying in his speech that his party would come to power in Madhya Pradesh.

"However, he (Rahul) seems to have ignored that the BJP has been on a winning streak since 2014.

"After the 2014 (Lok Sabha) elections, there were polls in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kashmir, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Goa and Himachal. The BJP won everywhere," the BJP president said.

"Now MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are going to polls

and the result is clear. They can only daydream about winning," he said.

Shah said the Congress leaders have a habit of telling lies "loudly, publicly and repeatedly".'

"Congress leader Kamal Nath says Prime Minister Narendra Modi goes on lots of foreign trips. However, when we took a stock of it, we came to know that Modi ji has done fewer trips than his predecessor Manmohan Singh," he said.

"I thought why does it appear that Modi ji is going on more number of trips. I asked a few people and it was found that when 'mauni baba' (referring to Manmohan Singh) went on foreign trips, he used to take two pages of speech in English and read it.

"At times even used to read in Malaysia a page meant to be read in Thailand and vice-versa. Now, when Modi ji goes out, he is greeted by a cheering crowd. These slogans are not for the welcome of Modi ji or the BJP, but for the 1.25 crore people of the country and Madhya Pradesh," Shah said.

"Modi ji has worked to increase the prestige of the nation," he said.

According to the BJP leader, the Modi government had started 129 schemes in the last four-and-a-half years for farmers, Dalits, Adivasis, youth, women and poor spread across villages and cities.

Hitting out at the Congress for questioning the NDA government and the BJP over surgical strikes, he said, "They have Italian spectacles on their eyes and therefore, cannot see what has actually happened".

"Before the surgical strikes, there were just two countries who could take revenge by conducting such strikes in other countries - America and Israel. Now, India also figures in that list," he said.

On the issue of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Shah said the Congress created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha over the move.

"I want to ask, are they concerned about the human rights of infiltrators? What about the human rights of martyrs' widows? These infiltrators take away jobs, but you are not concerned about it because vote-bank is more important to you," he said, adding national security was more important to the BJP.

Shah said if the BJP continued to remain in power at the Centre and in Madhya Pradesh, the party would throw out every single infiltrator from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Assam to Gujarat.

"Only Modi and BJP can throw out these infiltrators," he added.

Let there be contest to assess performance of 'family' and 'chaiwala': PM ## Let there be contest to assess performance of 'family' and 'chaiwala': PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he was ready for a contest between the performance of "four generations" of the Nehru-Gandhi family and that of "four years of a chaiwala", and asserted his government provided the poor people with amenities like access to banks, power and LPG which the Congress was unable to do during its 55-year rule.

Addressing a rally here ahead of the November 28 polls in Madhya Pradesh, Modi said the Congress, which was seeking an account of the BJP government's performance, should explain what it did for the state during its over five-decade rule.

"It is clear before you, 15 years (of the BJP rule in Madhya Pradesh) versus 55 years (of the Congress rule). And I am surprised! You should also seek an account of (the performance of) Modi. I insist on it.

"What have the governments of four generations of a family given to the nation and what has a chaiwala given in four years. Come on, let there be a contest," he added.

Modi said his government has ensured that every poor in the country has a bank account and it was done in just four years, while the Congress gave the slogan of 'garibi hatao' (eradicate poverty) in early 1970s, but did nothing.

"Indira Gandhi had carried out nationalisation of banks with an aim to ensure that all have access to the banking facilities. But the poor did not benefit.

"Now this government has ensured that all poor have bank accounts and we did it in just four years," he said.

"What they were unable to do in 55 years, we have done in four years including in (providing) electricity, LPG and roads, among other things," he said, listing the achievements of his government.

Calling Congress leaders "jhooth ke shehanshah" (king of lies), he alleged that their actions belie their words and it was "part of the Congress' character".

Without naming anyone, Modi said, "In Parliament, too, Congress leaders talk of love, but express anger in Madhya Pradesh."

Speaking on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on July 20 this year, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had targeted Modi and projected the RSS, BJP and its top leaders as agents of "anger and hatred" and "thanked" them for making him understand the meaning of being a Congressman, an Indian and a Hindu and enabling him to have only "love" for them. Gandhi had reated a flutter when he went across to the treasury benches and embraced the Prime Minister.

Accusing the Congress of spreading lies, Modi on Friday said he was surprised as to how the country's oldest political party could get elected "for so many years". Modi said it was because the opposition was less powerful then and the media was not as vibrant as it is now.

"Hence, whatever lies they would serve, those would percolate down. And people would buy the lies as being truths. Now, we learn how much lies the 'shehanshah of lies' speaks, how many times and where. They must be blabbering lies when asleep," he quipped.

Hitting back at Gandhi, who termed demonetisation as the biggest scam in the history of independent India during a rally in the state, Modi said "only those Congress leaders, who earned money unfairly, are crying" over the note ban and not the common man

Modi said that the common man was no longer hassled due to the note-ban exercise announced by him on November 8, 2016.

"They did face problems earlier and even we have said so, but not now," he said.

He asked the audience whether they were still facing problems due to the scrapping of the old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, and they replied in the negative. Modi also asked whether or not it was not right to bring the money "lying under the pillows and elsewhere" into the banking system.

"Post-demonetisation only those Congress leaders, who earned money unfairly, are crying and not the common man," he said.

Modi hailed the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the state for building roads, hospitals and other public infrastructure facilities.

The PM said the Centre was working towards achieving the goal of housing for all by 2022, when India completes 75 years of its independence.

Congress didn't care for nation's security when it ruled, says Amit Shah ## Congress didn't care for nation's security when it ruled, says Amit Shah

BJP president Amit Shah on Friday said the Congress did not care about the nation's security when it "ruled India for 70 years", adding securing the borders was a major achievement of the Modi-led government.

Addressing a poll rally, Shah credited the Modi government with giving impetus to boosting the country's

security.

"When the Congress was in power and Manmohan Singh wasthe prime minister, Pakistani terrorists used to infiltrate, explode bombs and go back," he said.

There was anger across the country after the 2016 Uri

attack in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed. But this was

not the regime of Mauni Baba (Manmohan Singh). Modi ji ordered

our jawans to conduct surgical strikes and take revenge," Shah

said.

"The Congress did not care about the country's security for 70 years when it was in power, but bothered only

about their vote banks. For us, security is more precious than

our own lives," he said.

Shah said the difference between the BJP and the Congress is that if one wants to become the prime minister or the president of the Congress, "they have to take birth in the

Nehru-Gandhi family while in the BJP, one can rise to the top

based on abilities even after being born in a poor family".

"An example of this is Narendra Modi, who was born in a tea seller's family but is now the prime minister. Shivraj Singh (Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan), who took birth in a poor family of farmers, is working from the last 15 years to develop Madhya Pradesh," he said.

"One does not need to have a family to work and go ahead in the BJP. What is needed is the ability and resolve to serve people," he said.

Shah sought to know who was the "senapati" (army chief) of the opposition party in Madhya Pradesh poll arena.

There is only a Raja (Digvijay Singh), a maharaja (Jyotiraditya Scindia), and an industrialist (Kamal Nath) and the Congress is fighting polls on their strength," he said.

"Congress had left Madhya Pradesh as one of the most backward states but I can proudly say today that Shivraj Singh has made it into a developed state," he said.

"The 'Maharaja' (Scindia) asks what has Modi done for Madhya Pradesh, but does not know how much has the state changed. This is because he does not step out of his palace in Gwalior," Shah said.

"He (Scindia) does not know what benefits the poor farmers received. I want to ask the Congress president, what did he give Madhya Pradesh for 10 years when the UPA was in power at the Centre," Shah said.

The 13th Finance Commission under the UPA regime gave the state 1,34,190 crore, but the 14th Finance Commission, under the Modi government allocated it Rs 3,44,126 crore, the BJP chief said.

Demonetisation biggest scam in independent India: Rahul Gandhi##Demonetisation biggest scam in independent India: Rahul Gandhi

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday termed demonetisation as the biggest scam in the history of independent India, adding it would be proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had "robbed the poor of their hard-earned money and given it away to a few rich".

Addressing a campaign rally for the November 28 Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, Gandhi said Modi does not talk about being a "chowkidar (watchman) of the country and of tackling corruption.

"If Modi says he is a chowkidar, people will respond that chowkidar chor hai," he said, addressing a rally at Deori in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.

Gandhi claimed that Modi "cancelled the Rafale deal of 126 fighter aircraft with Dassault Aviation and HAL at a price of Rs 526 crore per plane" without informing the Indian Air Force and the then defence minister Manohar Parrikar.

"The then French president Francois Hollande has said the Indian government had asked for Anil Ambani to be taken on board for the deal," the Congress chief said.

"Modi gave Rs 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani in this deal. This is the chowkidari he has done," Gandhi said.

After the note ban, Modi made honest and hardworking citizens to stand in queues outside banks, Gandhi said.

"He (Modi) allowed the rich like Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Vijay Mallya to flee the country with your money and made you stand in queues outside banks.

Time will prove how Modi had robbed you and gave your money to few rich," he said.

"These days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speeches don't have any mention of (eradicating) corruption, a tall promise that he had made before coming to power," Gandhi said.

Modi had claimed that he will be the chowkidar (watchman) of the country but he turned out to be chowkidar of a few industrialists, like Ambani, he said. (PTI)

PM Modi addresses a rally in Chhattisgarh's Ambikapur##PM Modi addresses a rally in Chhattisgarh's Ambikapur

PM Modi addresses a rally in Chhattisgarh's Ambikapur. Here are the key points from his address:

Shouldn't people of Bastar be appreciated for such high voting percentages? I will tell you a way to appreciate them, on November 20 you register even higher voting percentage than Bastar.

Atal Ji created Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It was a peaceful division and both the states are developing rapidly today. But just look at what the mess Congress created at the time of formation of Telangana.

These people still have not come to terms that I am the PM, it has been nearly four and a half years. They are still crying, how can a 'Chaiwala' become PM?. Now they say a 'Chaiwala' became PM because of one great person. I want to challenge them, let some good leader of Congress outside of the family become the party president for 5 years, then I will say that Nehru ji really created a truly democratic system there.

Congress party ko neend nahi aa rahi hai ki ye hamare parivaar ki virasat hamari rajgaddi ko ye chai wala kaise chura le gaya.

Speaking on Demonetisation, PM Modi said,"Yahan baitha ek bhi vyakti notebandi ke liye aaj ro nahi raha hai, akela ek parivaar ro raha hai." (No one is crying on demonetisation, except one family). (From ANI)
