LGBTQ community held a "pride march" in Guwahati to highlight issues facing them. While the earlier demand of the community was the decriminalisation of section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, current demands include inclusion in workplace, education, marriage, adoption rights and protection against abuse. The development comes as homosexuality has gained a degree of acceptance in deeply conservative India over the past decade, particularly in big cities.
