Dec 11, 2018 8:31 AM

Akash Vijayvargiya of BJP is trailing Ashwin Joshi of Congress by 877 votes. Joshi has received 50,985 votes so far, while Vijayvargiya has secured 50,108 at 4.14 pm, according to information trickling out of the Election Commission.

Indore-3 constituency recorded a 69.6 percent voter turnout, where voting was held on November 28. The incumbent MLA of this constituency was BJP's Usha Thakur.

However, BJP changed their candidate and fielded Vijayvargiya in this assembly elections, who is the son of Kailash Vijayvargiya, the current minister for higher education, technical education and skill development.

Kailash Vijayvargiya has been elected as MLA from Indore district for six times since 1990 and he is the national general secretary for BJP.

Joshi is the nephew of veteran Congress leader Mahesh Joshi, who had earlier represented Indore-3 constituency between 1980-90.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states where elections were held between November 12 and December 7. These polls are seen as a bellwether of the 2019 general elections.
