In the 2016 Assembly elections, Haroa was won by Islam Sk. Nurul (Haji) of CPIM.
Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Julfikar Molla of TMC.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Islam Sk. Nurul (Haji) garnered 113001 votes, securing over 56.33 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 42407 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 21.14 percent.
The constituency polled 200695 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 86.81 percent.
The Haroa constituency has a literacy level of 84.95 percent.
A total of 5 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
