Former Congress leader SM Krishna said he quit the party due to Rahul Gandhi's constant interference.
“He (Rahul Gandhi) was not answerable to anyone - neither Parliament nor governance. He took decisions on which ordinance was necessary and struck down others… I was the Minister of External Affairs for 3.5 years. Rahul Gandhi was then a nobody, not even a general secretary. He issued an order that leaders who are of 80 years of age should not hold any ministry. I was disappointed and resigned," the former external affairs minister was quoted as saying in an agency report.
The former CM of Karnataka also alleged that the party lacks mass leaders, and instead depend on managers to handle situations. He also criticised the party by saying that a loyal worker like him was sidelined citing his age.
However, congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao reacted sharply to Krishna’s comments. "People even in their old age don't seem to have enough, want for more recognition, drives them to say such things. No damage to our party, it only damages his legacy. No BJP person is going to remember SM Krishna, it will only be Congress who will talk about him," he was quoted as saying in the agency report.
