Budhni election 2018 results: Shivraj Singh Chouhan of BJP leads Arun Subhashchandra of Congress

Shivraj Singh Chouhan of BJP, the incumbent chief minister of Madhya Pradesh is leading Arun Subhashchandra of Congress in the Budhni constituency by 19,293 votes at 12.40 pm, according to information trickling out of the Election Commission.

Budhni recorded 75 percent voter turnout and about 1,84,926 votes were polled in the constituency, where voting was held on November 28.

Chouhan was first elected to the Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly from Budhni in 1990. Later, he was elected as the member of parliament in 1991 and served till 2003. He became the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh in 2005 and was further elected as chief minster for two consecutive terms.

Subhashchandra was member of parliament from 2007 to 2014. He has also served as union minister of state of heavy industries and public enterprises and later as union minister of state, agriculture and food processing industries in the UPA government.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states where elections were held between November 12 and December 7. These polls are seen as a bellwether of the 2019 general elections.
