Surendra Patwa of BJP is leading Suresh Pachouri of Congress in the Bhojpur constituency in Madhya Pradesh by 25,511 votes.
Patwa has received 79,228 votes so far, while Pachouri has secured 53,717 at 4.15 pm, according to information trickling out of the Election Commission.
There are a total of 2,23,572 voters in the seat, which includes 1,20,151 male voters, and 1,03,415 female voters. In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections, Bhojpur recorded a voter turnout of 77.88 percent. In 2013, the turnout was 72.62 percent, and in 2008 it was 70.5 percent.
In 2013, Surendra Patwa of BJP won the seat by a margin of 20,149 votes (12.72 percent). Surendra Patwa secured 50.8 percent of the total votes polled.
BJP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 13,666 votes (13.81 percent), registering 43.41 percent of the total votes polled.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP led in the Bhojpur Assembly segment of the Vidisha Parliamentary/Lok Sabha constituency.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states where elections were held between November 12 and December 7, 2018. These polls are seen as a bellwether of the 2019 general elections.
