Want to take Amazon.in to Bharat, says category management head Manish Tiwary
Sep 23, 2019 12:20 AM

Amazon India is hosting the Great Indian Festival sale 2019 which kicks off from September 29. The sale will showcase new products launches, cashback offers, discount & deals across a wide range of categories. CNBC-TV18's Megha Vishwanath caught up with the vice president of category management Manish Tiwary to know what else is in store for customers this festival season.

“This year we have close to half a million sellers who would be selling on the market place and over the last year, since last Diwali, we have invested a lot in making sure that the customer experience this Diwali is awesome. So what I can assure all your viewers is that they would get the best offers from the sellers, they would get the best customer service, the best installation and the best banking partners to make it affordable for them,” Tiwary said.

Speaking about Festive Yatra, he said, “Every year we look for ways and means to share with our customers and our sellers about this excitement around Diwali. We started on June 5, 2013 and it has been six years of our existence and over the last few years, more and more new customers are coming from smaller towns. So last Diwali, close to 70 percent of new customers came from tier-II, tier-III. More sellers are coming from small towns including villages. We thought it would be a good way to take Amazon.in to Bharat because that is where our customers and our sellers come from.”

“It is not just about the festive yatra. We have Amazon.in in Hindi over the last one year to make sure that our customers in Hindi heartland are able to shop well over here. This journey will be over 6,000 kilometres, we will start from Delhi, we will move on to cities like Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore and will stop in various places like Mathura, Agra and that is a chance for our customers to see what an Amazon.in house looks like, what are the various things we well because a lot of customers have never gone through every article we sell,” said Tiwary.

“We want to share how successful sellers in India are becoming by actually coming on to Amazon.in and selling,” he added.

“You will also see new launches happening this time. So as far as the customer is concerned in India, they would see a lot of attractive value offerings and a lot of new products and a lot of range of selection this Diwali from Amazon.in,” he said.

“The targets are quite simple. 100 million more happy customers, we already have 100 million and we are targeting to get to the next 100 million and half a million happy sellers. If the customers and sellers are happy, we are doing well in India,” he added.
