Pragya's candidature shows BJP's desperation, says Kamal Nath

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, will go to polls on May 12 in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections. The battle for the prestigious seat is between the BJP's Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.

Parikshit Luthra of CNBC-TV18 spoke to Chief Minister Kamal Nath who expressed confidence that his Congress party will clinch all the 22 seats in the state.

“The voters are disappointed; All the promises made five years ago remain unfulfilled. I had 75 days, we started the loan waiver and 21 lakh farmers’ loans have been waived. So whatever (former chief minister) Shivraj Singh Chouhan may say, I do not give much credence to. I need a certificate from the farmers. I do not need any certificate from Shivraj Singh or Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

The CM has said the BJP is becoming desperate. "If they (BJP) weren’t desperate, if they were not in doubt about losing Bhopal which has been the biggest stronghold of the BJP, why would they have got in Pragya Sadhvi?” he asks.
