Hyundai Motor India is hopeful of making a splash in the compact sedan market, where it currently has a minuscule market share. The South Korean auto giant is banking on the projected success of the Hyundai Aura to make this happen, even though it expects auto sales to be sluggish in the first half of 2020.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, the company's Director of Sales Tarun Garg expressed confidence that there would be an increase in sales volumes. The company is confident of exporting around 1.9 lakh vehicles.
In the case of Hyundai Aura, the company is looking at a number of 50,000 for the domestic market. "January has been a good month and we are going to sell 5,000 vehicles this month," Garg said.
On BS-IV inventory, he said the production of BS-VI vehicles has started in most of the models. "The inventory is very much in control, and well before the March 31 deadline, we should be able to clear all BS-IV vehicles," he noted.
