The Philadelphia Semiconductor index fell 0.3%.
In corporate news, Yext ( YEXT ) , a software maker that promotes company information in search directories and websites, is getting ready to explore a sale after attracting takeover interest, Reuters reported. Yext ( YEXT ) shares jumped 9%.
Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) will face a bench trial instead of a jury trial in the antitrust case filed by the US Justice Department after the company issued a $2.3 million check to the federal government, news outlets reported Friday. US District Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled that the payment satisfied the damages alleged by eight federal agencies, eliminating the need for a jury, Bloomberg said. Alphabet shares were falling 1%.
PowerSchool ( PWSC ) shares were adding 0.1% after the company said Friday that it agreed to be acquired and taken private by Bain Capital in a deal that values the education software provider at $5.6 billion.
Gen Digital ( GEN ) shares fell 2.7% after Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock to equalweight from overweight and lowered its price target to $27 from $28.
