The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 1%.
In corporate news, Tonix Pharmaceuticals ( TNXP ) shares jumped more than 32% after the company said the US Food and Drug Administration will not require an advisory committee meeting regarding its new drug application for TNX-102 SL, a product candidate to treat fibromyalgia.
23andMe (ME) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday to help facilitate a potential sale while Anne Wojcicki resigned as chief executive, less than a month after she attempted to buy the genetic testing firm. 23andMe shares fell past 56%.
Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) secured exclusive global rights to United Laboratories International's therapeutic candidate for obesity and type 2 diabetes in a licensing deal worth up to $2 billion. Novo shares were down 2%.
