The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 5.7%.
In corporate news, Anixa Biosciences ( ANIX ) shares surged past 12% after the company said it received a notice of allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office for its breast cancer vaccine technology.
Bristol-Myers Squibb ( BMY ) shares rose 1.7%. The company won the dismissal of a proposed class-action lawsuit in a federal court accusing it of using anticompetitive tactics to maintain monopoly on its blood cancer drug Pomalyst, media outlets reported.
Microbot Medical ( MBOT ) shares jumped 20%. The company said that robotic endovascular procedures using its Liberty system are feasible and significantly minimize radiation exposure, based on data from a study.
Neogen (NEOG) shares slumped 29% after fiscal Q3 adjusted earnings and revenue fell, and the company cut full-year revenue guidance. Neogen also said Chief Executive Officer John Adent will step down.
