Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Fall in Afternoon Trading

01:49 PM EDT, 03/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks fell Friday afternoon with the NYSE Health Care Index down 0.4% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) shedding 0.2%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 0.6%.

In corporate news, AstraZeneca ( AZN ) will invest $2.5 billion in a new research facility in Beijing just months after the company's top executive for China was detained by the country's authorities, Bloomberg reported. AstraZeneca ( AZN ) shares dropped 1.8%.

Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) plans to increase US investments to more than $55 billion over the next four years to boost its manufacturing and research capabilities. The shares rose 0.3%.

TC BioPharm ( TCBP ) shares fell 62% after the Nasdaq Hearings Panel decided to delist the stock from the exchange for failing to comply with the minimum bid price requirement.
