09:23 AM EDT, 03/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were falling premarket Thursday, with The Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) down 0.2%.
The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was 0.1% lower and the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 0.4% higher.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down at $69.63 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil declined by 0.1% to $73.73 per barrel, and natural gas futures were 1% lower at $3.82 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
New Fortress Energy ( NFE ) shares were up past 4% after the company said it completed a transaction with Excelerate Energy ( EE ) to sell its Jamaican assets for $1.06 billion.
Prairie Operating ( PROP ) shares were up more than 6% after the company said it has closed its $602.8 million acquisition of some Denver-Julesburg Basin assets from Bayswater Exploration and Production and its affiliates.
FirstEnergy ( FE ) shares were down 0.3% after the company said overnight it is reducing its workforce by less than 3% as part of organizational changes.
