09:06 AM EST, 01/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks edged lower premarket Friday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) down 0.1% recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was down 0.4% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 6.4% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 0.5% lower at $77.50 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.6% to $80.84 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 5.8% at $4.01 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Schlumberger ( SLB ) shares rose more than 1% after the company reported higher Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue. The company also said its board raised the quarterly dividend by 3.6% to $0.285 per share.
