03:56 PM EDT, 04/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were lower late Thursday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) decreasing 0.4% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) shedding 1%.

In corporate news, Celsius (CELH) shares spiked 3.1% after it said Thursday that it plans to expand its sales and distribution to France starting in Q4.

Etsy ( ETSY ) is likely to generate "significant, multiyear upside" for investors, Elliott Investment Management's managing partner Jesse Cohn said Wednesday, Reuters reported. Elliott owns an over 10% stake in Etsy ( ETSY ), which has the potential to attract more buyers and get more sales, Cohn said at the Sohn Conference in New York, according to the report. Etsy ( ETSY ) shares rose 0.7%.

Lamb Weston ( LW ) shares plunged more than 19% after it reported weaker-than-expected fiscal Q3 results and lowered its full-year guidance amid soft retail traffic trends and an internal systems transition that impacted fulfillment.

Levi Strauss (LEVI) shares surged almost 13% after it reported fiscal Q1 adjusted earnings and sales late Wednesday that beat market expectations.
