01:58 PM EDT, 04/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed Tuesday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) down 0.2% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) adding 1.2%.
Redbook US same-store sales rose by 4.8% from a year earlier in the week ended March 29 after a 5.6% year-over-year increase in the previous week.
In corporate news, PVH (PVH) shares jumped more than 18% after the company issued a full-year earnings outlook above market expectations on the back of a better-than-expected fiscal Q4.
Ford Motor ( F ) shares fell 1.3% after the company said Tuesday its US vehicle sales totaled 501,291 in Q1, down 1.3% from a year ago.
Macy's (M) on Tuesday named Thomas Edwards as chief financial officer and chief operating officer, effective June 22. Edwards is currently CFO and COO at Capri (CPRI). Macy's shares were rising 1.7%, and Capri was down 0.4%.
