03:30 PM EDT, 03/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks fell late Thursday afternoon with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) down 0.4% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) dropping 2.5%.
In sector news, the Consumer Brands Association urged the White House to grant "targeted agricultural tariff exemptions" on some imports of key ingredients that are unavailable in the US. PepsiCo (PEP), Conagra (CAG), and J.M. Smucker (SJM) are among the members of the association.
In corporate news, Tilly's (TLYS) shares tumbled 30%, a day after the company reported a fiscal Q4 net loss with net sales down 15%.
