With the Data Protection Bill 2018 set to become a law soon, public policy heads of various large global corporations are heading to India to understand ramifications for their businesses or offer their services to government bodies.
Teresa Carlson, vice president of worldwide public sector of the Amazon Web Services, is in India and set to meet the minister of electronics and I-T, Ravi Shankar Prasad tomorrow.
CNBC-TV18's Syna Dehnugara caught up with Carlson in New Delhi and asked her if Amazon Web Services is compliant with security and data privacy norms in India.
Carlson said, "We already have great experience with meeting requirements like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe. All of our services already meet the GDPR and we have been working with Indian government already and providing feedback. We have created some really great whitepapers and tools that they can take advantage of."
