Nevada Sets Record Gaming Win in April, State's Gaming Board Says
May 29, 2024 11:27 AM

02:06 PM EDT, 05/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Nevada Gaming Control Board said Wednesday that statewide gaming win in April totaled $1.24 billion, a nearly 7% increase from a year earlier.

Gaming revenue increased 8.5% in Clark County and soared nearly 32% in South Lake Tahoe, but saw declines in Washoe County, Elko County, Carson Valley and other areas, the state agency said.

"April traditionally is not the strongest month for gaming revenue and although this is our lowest win total this calendar year, it does represent an all-time record for the month," Las Vegas Review-Journal quoted Control Board's senior economic analyst Michael Lawton as saying.

Fitch warns of US debt-ceiling stalemate despite Republican-controlled government
Jan 7, 2025
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A unified government under President-elect Donald Trump is unlikely to lead to a quick resolution of the U.S. debt-ceiling debate given a narrow Republican House majority and continued disagreements within the party on spending policies, said ratings agency Fitch. As part of a 2023 budget agreement, Congress temporarily lifted the debt ceiling until Jan. 1, 2025....

US service sector growth picks up; input prices gauge highest in nearly two years
Jan 7, 2025
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. services sector activity accelerated in December, but a surge in a measure of prices paid for inputs to near a two-year high pointed to elevated inflation, consistent with the Federal Reserve's projection for fewer interest rate cuts this year. The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said on Tuesday that its nonmanufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI) increased...

US trade deficit widens in November
Jan 7, 2025
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. trade deficit widened in November, likely as businesses worried about President-elect Donald Trump's threats to raise tariffs on foreign goods front-loaded imports, more than offseting a surge in exports to a record high. The trade gap increased 6.2% to $78.2 billion from a revised $73.6 billion in October, the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis...
