Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday inaugurated a global trade show in Gandhinagar, organised as part of the ninth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019.

The Prime Minister in his inaugural address, highlighted the policies taken by his government while urging industrialists to become part of the country’s growth story.

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show is being held on around two lakh sq mt area of an exhibition ground in the state capital. Around 25 industrial and business sectors are showcasing their products at the event.

GDP Growth Rate Highest Since 1991

PM Modi in his speech said the average GDP growth during his government’s term stood at 7.3 percent. This, the PM claimed was the highest since 1991. He also added that at 4.6 percent, the average inflation is at its lowest since 1991.

India’s global ranking in World Bank’s Doing Business Report rose by 65 places in the last four years.

Aims ‘Top 50’ Rank Next Year In Ease Of Doing Business

PM Modi said he has asked his team work harder to ensure that the country is among the top 50 countries in the ease of doing business ranking.

The western Indian state has emerged across the globe as the best representative for the business spirit that is existing in the country, said PM Modi.

He said Vibrant Gujarat has become a truly global event. It is graced by the presence of senior political leaders, CEOs and corporate leaders, prestigious institutions, opinion leaders as well as young entrepreneurs.

Speaking about the challenges faced by the country, PM Modi said India has to grow not only vertically but also horizontally to ensure the large section of population is not sidelined on way to overall growth.

Worked Hard To Create Employment For The Youth

With questions about unemployment rising on the eve of Lok Sabha polls, Modi said efforts have been made towards creating employment, "We have worked hard to promote manufacturing to create jobs for our youth. Investments through our Make in India initiative, have been well supported by programmes like Digital India and ‘Skill India."

From the start of business to its operation and closure, we have paid attention in building new institutions, processes and procedures. All this is important, not just for doing business but also for ease of life of our people, PM Modi.

Amidst concerns about reforms taking back seat during the election year, PM Modi said the government will continue with the pace of reforms and deregulation.

The mantra of my government has been reform, transform and further perform. In the 4.5 years, the mantra of our government hasn’t been government but governance, PM Modi said.
