Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $3.04.

Operating revenue in the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose to $14.70 billion from $13.63 billion a year earlier.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected $14.41 billion.

Shares of United Airlines were up more than 4% in after-hours activity.
